Commentary:  The team got the season off to a great start by sweeping a
formidable singles line-up and clinching the match before the doubles (not too
shabby either) got on the courts.  The abbreviated match at number four singles
took longest of all, with the average rally lasting about twenty strokes!

Commentary:  There are "away" matches and there are "AWAY" matches.  We played
at Poolesville HS, 45 miles each way for some of the team.  After the match,
Captain Mike Kane reminded the team of the importance of focusing on the team
result, not the individual matches.  That's right!  The team result is the
only thing to remember.

Club newcomers Marc and Tamra had a part in four of the five match victories.
Watch out for them in this season's other club competitions!

Commentary:  The team continued its winning ways, rolling over some feisty
opposition.  It's always fun playing the hard-court teams on our home clay.

Commentary:  The APL Team suffered their first loss of the season.  Captain
Mike Kane faced a difficult decision at the end of the singles -- "Who should
be thrown to the wolves at number one doubles?"  Former ATP touring pro Abrie
du Plooy (highest ATP ranking in the 100's) played for Flower Valley.  Silver
lining -- Mike has paid Abrie for tennis lessons and having lost should be due
a refund.

Commentary:  The APL team lost another tough one Sunday.  The single bright
spot was a debut win by David Lario.  After an 8-1 start, our doubles teams
are 0-5 in the last two weeks.  Plus, the entries for the club doubles
tournament are at an all time low.  Grab a partner and enter the tournament.

Such a close match -- one more forfeit and we would have had them!

Commentary:  Even after some frantic Saturday evening line-up changes the team
scored their first 7-0 match sweep of the season.  The team looked sharp in
their tennis whites, adhering to the Country Club dress code.  The flower
boxes at the corners of the courts undoubtedly helped us feel at ease.  After
all, we're used to having vegetation on the courts.

Commentary:  Our APL Inter-Club Team finished the season Sunday with a 3-4
loss to undefeated league champion Cheverly.  How are we supposed to win when
their ringer can beat our ringer!?  Chris and Tamra avenged their singles losses
in the doubles.  David, our teammate from Spain, contributed another strong
performance.  Maybe we should expand our international recruiting for next year.
